Our History

On June 22nd 2006, What’s It Worth opened its doors in New Hartford, NY to rave reviews from the community. Marc Smith, President and owner of What’s It Worth and The Last Unicorn Music Stores, has over 30 years of experience in music retailing and business. After selling The Last Unicorn’s products on eBay for over 10 years, he decided to devote his full attention to online selling.

Today, What’s It Worth and is one of the premier on line drop off stores in upstate NY and has virtually eliminated the smaller Mom and Pop operations in the area. Marc is proud of his team of professionals who have made the store the success it is today. Together they have the experience, integrity and commitment to meet the consumer, business and fundraising needs and challenges of their customers.

Jason: Research/Writer
With over 14 years experience, Jason is our expert researcher and has been an integral part of the success of What’s It Worth. Jason can most often be seen engaged in a friendly conversation with customers while diligently investigating the items in which they bring to us.

Stacie: Writer/Office Manager
After selling items on eBay for four years throughout college, Stacie joined forces in making What’s It Worth? the most efficient eBay drop off store to ever have hit Central New York. Having once been referred to as “the glue” that holds the store together, Stacie excels herself in greeting customers as well as writing eBay auctions and giving moral support and a friendly smile to all of her coworkers.

Scott: Business To Business / eBay Class Instructor
With a diverse background in customer service, sales and behavioral social sciences, Scott provides a professional and productive working relationship with all of our business partners and associates Scott excels at bringing business company’s and operations the benefits and profitability of listing their overstock or surplus merchandise with What’s it Worth. Scott is also one of our certified eBay instructors and teaches our 'Basics of Selling on eBay' classes.

Ray: Photography/Tech
As head photographer and technical guru, Ray and his staff use the highest degree of equipment and state of the art digital photography so that your auctions get noticed and sold. With an intense devotion to detail, Ray will make your items look so good that you will want to buy them again yourself!
